Description:
Red. Its name is borrowed from the amaranth grain due to its distinctively red color. The color has nothing to do with the amaranth grain itself.
Synthetically produced and can cause reactions such as hay fever, hives and asthma in susceptible groups. Originally produced by the kermes beetle (lice/insect: Coccus ilices), it can now be produced synthetically.
