The UV absorbance of lignosulfonates is utilized in sun screens and bio-pesticides.

Obtained from volcanic rock from Kaiserstuhl. As an animal feed additive: the observed adverse effects on animal performance and blood clinical biochemistry raise concerns about the additives impact. Used for fattening of chickens and cattle. Based on the current knowledge and applying a conventional risk assessment, the use of the additive in animal nutrition according to the conditions of use is of no concern for the consumer.
