Description:

200 times sweeter than sucrose (common sugar), as sweet as aspartame. Used in sugar-reduced foods, alone or combined with aspartame (E951) or other sweeteners. Study done on mice found that Ace-K caused weight gain and shifts in the gut microbiome, which could potentially lead to obesity and chronic inflammation.

WHO: Artificial sweeteners do not have an effect on weight loss and do not reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases. Long-term use of artificial sweeteners may have undesirable effects, such as increased risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and mortality in adults.
